Herbs & Medicinal Plants

Most herbs and medicinal plants prefer bright, direct sunlight for at least 6 hours a day. Place them in a sunny window or outdoors in a location with ample sunlight. Herbs and medicinal plants generally don't require heavy fertilization. Use a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer diluted to half strength every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Regularly prune herbs and medicinal plants to encourage bushy growth and prevent them from becoming leggy. Harvest herbs and medicinal plants regularly to encourage new growth and maximize their potency. Use sharp scissors or pruning shears to make clean cuts just above nodes.
